Findex has acquired Wakeful Partners, an Adelaide accounting and SMSF firm, expanding its reach into South Australia. The deal broadens Findex’s capabilities beyond wealth management to include local accounting, tax, and self-managed superannuation services.

Expanding South Australian Footprint

Wakeful Partners serves 1,500 client entities and will integrate into Findex’s existing Adelaide wealth management team. The firm was founded in 2010 and has a strong reputation in suburban Adelaide for its relationship-driven approach and stability. Findex co-chief executive Tony Roussos said the acquisition fills a capability gap in the local market.

“The acquisition fills a clear capability gap for Findex in Adelaide, where the firm has an established wealth management team but has not previously offered local accounting, tax or SMSF services,” Findex said in a statement.

Findex identified a specific opportunity in the South Australian market. The firm already has an Adelaide wealth management team, but lacked the local accounting and tax infrastructure to serve clients comprehensively. By acquiring Wakeful, Findex can now provide a more integrated service to individuals, families, and businesses across Australia and New Zealand. This move supports Findex’s ongoing strategy of expanding its national footprint through mergers and acquisitions.

Wakeful director Simon Warner and partner Toby Oakley will join Findex as partners on a permanent basis. The two built the firm on the foundations of strong client relationships, technical care, and practical advice. They said joining Findex allows them to maintain that service ethos while giving clients access to a broader range of expertise and support.

“This next chapter in joining Findex will allow us to keep delivering that same trusted service, while giving our clients access to a broader range of expertise and support,” Warner said.

For Wakeful’s existing clients, continuity of their adviser relationships is a priority. Over the next 12 to 24 months, the Wakeful team will progressively integrate into Findex’s systems and processes. This timeline ensures clients will continue to work with the advisers they know, backed by the scale and specialist capability of the national network.

Market Context and Growth

Adelaide was recently named as one of the KPMG Enterprising Cities 2026. The report identified 10 cities across Australia where the population is growing faster than the national average. Participation rates are increasing, and these cities have more workers than the rest of the country.

Enterprising cities’ population surpassed 10 million people in 2025. The region grew by 1.8 per cent compared to a 1.5 per cent increase more broadly across Australia. Over a third of Australian workers now live in these cities. Findex views this demographic shift as a key reason for establishing a full accounting, tax, SMSF and wealth management presence in Adelaide.
