The National Meeting of Social Movements and Morena drew participants to Mexico City’s Congress of the National Medical Center Siglo XXI. The assembly united labor unions, grassroots collectives, and advocacy groups under a unified push for deeper social change in Mexico. Among those present were Ariadna Montiel Reyes, Morena’s national president, alongside its executive committee and delegates from major organizations such as the Unión Popular Revolucionaria Emiliano Zapata (UPREZ), ANICS, COSyP, Somos Pueblo, the Movimiento Humanista Nacional Humanista Obradorista, and the Mexican Electricians Union (SME). This gathering formalized a long-term alliance between Morena and civil society, moving beyond temporary cooperation to embed shared political and social objectives.

During the event, Alejandro Robles outlined Morena’s role as the political platform for these movements, insisting it must convert their demands into a cohesive agenda. He framed the alliance as a “movement of movements”, designed to surpass conventional party structures and function as a broader catalyst for systemic reform. His remarks centered on historically marginalized groups, Indigenous peoples, migrants, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ communities, who have long been excluded from economic and social progress. Robles clarified that inclusion must translate into tangible results: access to justice, economic stability, and expanded rights, particularly for Indigenous communities.

Robles also linked this alliance to the defense of the national project led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. The coordination between Morena and the social movements strengthens the transformation, protects the rights already won, and reaffirms a patriotic stance in defense of national sovereignty.

The participation of the organizations confirmed the need to establish permanent channels of dialogue, coordination, and participation. The alliance seeks to ensure that the demands of communities, workplaces, and territories directly influence the national agenda.

The meeting concluded with a call to unity: defending sovereignty, social justice, and the dignity of the people requires articulating struggles and strengthening popular organization. The alliance between Morena and the social movements is presented as a way to consolidate social advances, expand rights, and ensure that Mexico’s transformation is built from and for the people.
