Singapore-based clean energy developer PCG Global has secured its first outside investment, with climate-focused firm GenZero leading a Pre-Series A funding round for the company.

Funding fuels expansion beyond China

The capital infusion marks PCG Global’s first external fundraising since its launch by the team behind China’s PCG Power, a specialist in distributed energy. While financial details remain undisclosed, proceeds will accelerate project development across Southeast Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East. These regions are prioritizing decarbonization and energy security.

GenZero, established by Singapore’s Temasek in 2022, focuses on scalable climate solutions that balance environmental impact with financial returns. Its portfolio includes nature-based projects, industrial decarbonization technologies, and carbon market infrastructure. The investment fits its strategy of backing companies capable of deploying clean energy assets at scale.

Kimberly Tan, GenZero’s head of investments, said the deal reflects support for businesses that can expand clean energy globally. “The PCG team has shown strong capabilities in fundraising, project development, and execution,” she said. “We believe they’re well-positioned to grow in Asia and the Middle East, where demand for resilient energy infrastructure is rising.”

PCG Global enters this phase with a track record inherited from PCG Power, which has built and operated more than 2 gigawatts of renewable energy assets in China. Another 1.8GW of projects are currently under development there.

The deal’s timing reflects a shift in climate tech funding. While investors have become more selective, scalable clean energy platforms continue to attract capital in Asia. Rising electricity demand, corporate decarbonization commitments, and concerns over energy resilience are supporting investment in renewables generation, battery storage, and integrated energy management systems.

Leadership sees vote of confidence in global model

Li Wenxuan, chairman and CEO of PCG Power, said the investment validates the company’s ability to adapt its distributed energy model for international markets. “This partnership with GenZero will help us deliver renewable infrastructure in regions with growing demand for clean power,” he said.

The move also highlights a trend of Singapore-based climate investors targeting regional developers. These firms combine operational expertise with access to fast-growing emerging markets.

Its existing pipeline includes more than 2 gigawatts of operational renewable assets in China and 1.8GW of projects under development.

The deal comes as energy markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia show growing interest in integrated solutions, from solar and wind farms to battery storage systems.
